The Atlantic Tarpon, (Megalops Atlanticus) is a large, hard fighting, sub tropical game fish. It has a reputation worlwide for its astonishing fighting qualities, and many people travel to the Florida Keys to test their mettle against this, challenging adversary, which grows to well over 100lbs. The Florida Keys, is without doubt the top venue for the 'tarpon hunter'. Every year in April thousands of ocean travelling adult fish migrate to this small chain of islands, off of the Florida mainland, to spawn. At this time of year the fish can average over 100lbs, and some fish can be close to 200lbs in weight.
