My name is Andrew Hosegood. I am 38 years old, and I live in Milton Keynes, in Buckinghamshire. I work as a Graphic Designer, and in my spare time, my other interests, other than fishing are photography, amateur video, and web development, (which is why this site came about to exist!).

The Early Days
The beginning of my fishing obsession began in the early 70's. As a young boy, I was introduced to the art of coarse fishing by my father, who took me to the local Grand Union Canal, and lakes in the Milton Keynes area. By my mid teens, fishing was in my blood, and the pursuit of big fish had become the focal point in my life.

In in 1983, during my late teens and early twenties, I studied Graphic Design design at Nene College, Northampton, and during my spare time, I spent countless hours in the summer, pursuing large tench and roach from a local clay pit. Many fish were caught including tench to just under seven pound, and roach to over two pounds in weight.

At the age of 22, due to full time omployment, I was able to buy my own car, and this immedietly enabled me to pursue bigger fish further afield. I then started to target the wells catfish of Claydon Lakes, in Buckinghamshire, and 47 fish up to 22lb 10oz were caught during this period.

Around this time, in 1989, Sywell Reservoir was becoming well known as a prolific big tench fishery. I spent many memorable weekends fishing Sywell, and over 7 productive years I caught 2 'nines', 18 'eights', over 100 'sevens', and approximatly 250-300, fish between 5lbs and 6lbs, in weight.

The later Years
My more recent angling exploits, have involved targeting, and catching the large barbel that now exist in my local Upper River Ouse, and many doubles up to 15lb 12oz have been caught. A brief flirtation with the huge perch which exist in a certain stretch of the River Ouse, has led to me catching five 3lb+ perch, and also catching a huge perch of 4lb 6oz in weight.

In the mid ninties, my angling interests were to change direction. A brief conversation with Barry Rickards, the famous pike angler, led to me travelling to Lake Nasser, in Egypt, to try and catch a Nile perch. Subsequent trips to this venue led to me catching Nile perch up to 87lbs in weight, and these early foreign adventures, acted as a springboard, and inspired me to visit other worlwide destinations even further afield. I have now travelled to 4 of the worlds continents, in pursuit of big fish, which include, Southern India, The Florida Keys, Canada, USA, France, Spain, and Namibia.

Since those early days when I drifted into the big fish angling scene, my interest in catching big fish has grown and grown. twenty years on, my enthusiasm for fishing has not diminished, and I still enjoy the chance of getting out into the countryside, and I thrive on the challenge of pursuing, and catching specimen fish.

It is impossible to detail all of the highlights, of my 25 year angling career, within this page. The above is only a very brief description of the most memorable moments of nearly three decades of fishing.
